University tuition fees

It is important to note that foreign students (persons with a study permit) who come to Quebec to complete their undergraduate studies at a public institution and obtain a Quebec diploma must pay specific tuition fees for foreign students, unless they are exempt. These rights vary from program to program. For example, in 2015-2016, fees for a full-time session at a public CEGEP ranged from CAN$5,682 to CAN$8,808. Added to this are the costs of admission, tuition, medical and hospitalization insurance , educational materials, etc.

Quebec and France have signed an agreement regarding tuition fees for French students in the province. Thus, thanks to this initiative of the two governments, all French students pay the same basic fees and lump sums as Canadian students who are not Quebec residents.

On the other hand, for vocational and technical training, French students benefit from free tuition fees.

Tuition fee waiver (lump sum)

Several categories of people may be exempt from the lump sum for foreign students, such as refugees with a Québec selection certificate (CSQ).

On the other hand, Quebec has signed several international cooperation agreements or bilateral agreements with foreign countries. For example, Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia, Ivory Coast, Senegal, China, Mexico, etc. are among those countries. There is a maximum number of exemptions (quotas) per country. You can consult the website of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MEES)  .
