University Excellence Scholarships
Universities have merit or merit scholarships that they award based on specific criteria such as academic results. To find out what scholarships the university you are going to study at offers, check with its financial aid office.
Scholarships of excellence for foreign students for professional and technical training
These scholarships are intended for foreign students:
- in vocational training: the main target is students from developing countries in Asia (China) and the Americas (Mexico, Brazil), as well as developing countries of the Francophonie who wish to pursue full-time study in a program of professional training leading to a diploma of professional studies (DEP) or a certificate of professional specialization (ASP). Check the Québec Métiers d'avenir website , which administers this scholarship program on behalf of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MEES).
- in technical training: the same clientele mentioned above is directed mainly in the context of full-time studies in a technical training program leading to a DEC (university diploma). Check the Cégeps du Québec website for public schools and the Association des colleges private du Québec (ACPQ) for private schools.
FQRNT Excellence Scholarships
These are short-term research or development scholarships for foreign students, doctoral and post-doctoral internships, and short-term scholarships. These scholarships are administered by the Fonds de recherche du Québec – Nature et Technologies (FRQNT) and are reserved for students and researchers who wish to start or continue research activities in Quebec.
Canada Government Scholarships
It is also possible to apply for scholarships offered by the federal government .
Scholarships from foreign countries
Some countries grant scholarships to their citizens who wish to study in Canada. To find out about these scholarships, check the websites of your country's consulates and embassies in Canada.
Grants from international organizations
Many international organizations, such as the Agence universitaire de la francophonie (AUF), offer scholarships to foreign students. It is impossible to list them all – check out the Quebec university sites that offer search engines to find out which scholarships are available to you based on your field of study.
